I just got a phonecall from a lady who "heard" that I raise kittens. Turns out
that she has 4 kittens, about 3 weeks old. The mother was killed 10 days ago
and those kittens weren't fed nor cleaned.

I expected some dehydrated skin and bones with fur creatures, but not this!

I didn't take a picture of them when they came in but rather ran straight to
the sink. Those kittens were unrecognizable! Caked with mud and cow dung
and whatnot..I didn't even see any fur. Wouldn't have thought those were
kittens.

After I managed to get the most of it off those poor thingies I noticed that
they weren't dehydrated at all except one. He is not going to make it, I'm
pretty sure.

But the other 3 are good. They drank some Pedialyte and are purring now
that they are clean. It'll take a few more baths to get it all off. And that
smell!!! :smt119 .

The other 2 kittens that survived the litter of 6 are doing great, but the lil
Siamese is a screamer! With the 3 puppies about to open their eyes, I'm
not getting much sleep, but it's worth it.

I am glad to know that otherwise they are in decent health. :) And I'm also glad you have such a love for animals MissD, hehe.

Oh you haven't heard of him. It's time! I have taped all the episodes from TV
and uploaded them onto my server. I dunno if it's legal or not, but heck lol.
Do you have broadband? I'll PM you the url!

Here's Cesar Milan's, the Dog Whisperer's philosophy:

Cesar Millan teaches that, in order to properly fulfill both our dogs and ourselves, we need to become our canine's calm, assertive pack leaders. A dog that doesn't trust it's human to be a good pack leader becomes unbalanced and often exhibits unwanted or anti-social behaviors.

Cesar does not "train" dogs in the sense of teaching them commands like "sit, stay, come, heel," - he rehabilitates unbalanced dogs and helps "re-train" their owners to better understand how to see the world through a dog's eyes.

Cesar counsels people to calmly, assertively, and consistently give their dogs rules, boundaries and limitations to establish themselves as solid pack leaders and to help correct and control unwanted behavior. He doesn't believe in "quick fixes," even though changing some behaviors can appear to happen in a relatively short period of time. None of those changes will "stick," however, unless the human acts consistently with his/her dog every day to keep unwanted behaviors from returning. In Cesar's opinion, no one should ever hit or yell at a dog to correct unwanted behavior.

And here are some articles:

I tell you, I have been through dog training and back...but this guy has it
figure out!!! I'm happy with my 3 dogs now..especially the big ones!

10 days without food? Mud and cow dung? How did those poor babies survive....Thanks for looking out for them Miss D. *hugs*

Well, from the 10 kittens I had, 2 are still alive. 3 from that lady died and the
lil white siamese is as good as gone. I dunno what's wrong with them. They
did have the runs a bit but no mucus in it, which is THE sign of Leukemia and
usually the reason why they die.

Of all the kittens that survived here over the years, the dark ones with the
light brown stripes are the ones that usually make it. Calicos and Siamese
go first. It happened so often now that I actually noticed it. There was one
of those in both litters and I so hope they make it.

They are good one feeding, next feeding they are already in a coma..it all
happens very suddenly:

Thanks! However, when I went to feed yesterday, the lil white one sat there
and was purring and playing and was hungry. She is fine now! I have no
idea what that was, why she was arching her back like that, was totally
unresponsive and peed all over herself, but whatever it was, it's ok now :dances: .

I'm so glad to hear the little white one snapped out of it. Keeping my fingers crossed.
