I just got back from the vet with my male cat Gremlin. He came walking on
3 legs earlier so we rushed him to the vet right away. They found a bite
wound in the inside of his leg and put him on pain meds and antibiotics. If
it's not better by monday they'll do an x-ray, but it doesn't look broken.

Since he is feline leukemia positiv we have to be careful, because his
imune system isn't the best and sometimes they don't heal good. All 4 of
my cats are positiv.

Thankfully I didn't get any pills, just oral liquid stuff hehehehe.

Aww good luck with him. What about a makeshift splint if needed temporarily.

That's rough, with Leukemia it still should heal but take awhile longer.

You get alot of cats and dogs, I don't remember exactly but you are set up as a kennel for injured pets too not just a wildlife rehabber?

To be honest, I can't afford it. The donations I get a year are just enough to
pay for milk replacer for a month. I had ordered a 5 lbs of Esbilac for the
pups. They are just 2 weeks old now and the thing is almost empty. That
bucket was 50 bucks.

Then I need the kitten milkreplacer and kittylitter, the first puppy shots
(I refuse to bring any puppy back to the shelter unless they had shots, too
many parvo outbreaks there) and that's just for the non wildlife.

I'll see how it goes when we move next year, if there's a shelter that needs
my help as they do here or if I just stick with wildlife..dunno yet.

I was just curious, since it seems like you get so many. Are you that well known in the area? And if so how come people aren't donating?

Have you placed ads in the newspaper now and then?

The vets, animal control, police, sheriff, mayor and the shelter all bring me
the youngens, wildlife or not. The shelter helps me out with dry food, but
that's all they can do, because they got plenty. They get all the bags from
Walmart that have a little tear in it.

There is nobody who would foster the ones that are too young to be adopted
out. I don't think I would take all these animals if I wouldn't have a place to
bring them to. Finding homes for all of those would be next to impossible.
But unless a private person asks me to raise kittens for them and pay for
the milk (which is the case right now with 2 of the kittens) and takes them
back, they all are property of the local Humane Society.

That's why I started working website jobs, but since I needed to pay off my
own medical bills, it's very short this year.

I'm sorry I don't live closer to you I would help with fostering.

I am looking towards moving south in the future, but not that far lol And if I went that far I'd go farther to be close to my mother, so Florida

Well I would think the shelter would do a bit more, considering realistically you're helping them too by taking on some of the animals.

Anyway good luck with this guy

It's unfortunate that more people don't get involved with helping animals, as you do. Hope Gremlin comes along ok.

He is much better. Leg wasn't broken. It was an inflammation from an old
bite wound that got into the joint. A few antibiotics and he's as good as new :).
