MissDolittle I saw your video of Sweetness drinking funny on YouTube. It was so cute! I just had to tell you about my crazy calico, Maxie, who drinks in a really crazy way! Too bad I don't have a video camera, but I DO have photos! She lies down sideways and paws the ground while drinking. Plus she splashes and paws the water--playing not drinking! She was only 5 mos. old in these photos.

It's not the stainless steel bowl because I switched her to a ceramic bowl and she STILL does it. Now I have a ceramic water dish set in side a glass pie pan to cut down on the water mess. At first Maxie didn't like it, but it didn't take her long to be able to drink crazy with this new setup. :smt005

Also I've always heard that calicos are very vocal. Maxie rarely meows. Most of the time she makes a "meep-meep" sound when she is displeased. Other than that she is very quiet for a cat with such a crazy personality! :smt042

Hehehehe What cute pics those are!

I have two cats (brother and sister) that do the pawing the water only they paw it so hard it ends up all over the floor. I have a very large bowl for their water, holds 3 gallons (with 8 cats and four dogs you need a big bowl) and the brother will walk around the edge of the bowl until he can finally tip it over. He is such a brat, but I love him.

I used to have a 10 gallon thingie for the water, but now I got this thing
that refills on it's own. The hose that comes with it sucks though, I used
a washer and dryer hose, fits perfectly and I never have to fill up water again!

The only problem is that it is made of plastic and Olliver is allergic to it. I did
manage to fit a metal bowl into it tho.

It's this one:

That's a pretty cool set up Miss D. I'm not sure where I could set that up though...and Mr. Hoppy (the brother) would probably find it facinating to watch it fill...meaning he would be batting the water out as fast as he could. I swear that cat is way to smart for his own good. Just the other day he figured out how to depress the on button the shave cream.....lol

Here is a pic of the smarty pants himself. I have yet to get a pic of him walking around the edge of the bowl, I usually don't catch him until after the damage is done.

noahsark your cat is so cute!!!! ^^ All of my cats have always drank water in a normal fashion, so I don't have any funny stories to share. :( Oh, except that my late cat, Neko, would enjoy trying to catch water in her mouth from a tap that was turned on.. it kept me amused for rather long amounts of time!

I always wanted to get Maxie one of those water fountains but I'm afraid of the mess! :laughter

Thanks everyone for your kind words! I love hearing about everybody's cat stories. Just think I used to be a dog person until I rescued two 4 week-old feral kittens--my 1st cats.

Sometime I wish I had "normal" cats, but I have always ended up with wacky ones--these 2 make my 2nd time having 2 cats--I have only owned 4 cats total. All of my cats love to get into toooo much trouble all the time :smt003 but they are so much fun!

Today the fun of the holiday season has started in my house. Here is what happened last year:

Then taking while taking it down --a tree has never come down so soon after Christmas before! :smt101-- Sammy (my female gray Tabby tortie--Maxie litter-mate) decided to help too. Usually Sammy is the "better" of the 2--but not too much better!

Guess it's time to charge those camera batteries! :smt003

I agree, that poor tree. :laughter Our cats were always really good with the tree. They never knocked down any ornaments (we took precautions anyway), nor climbed up the tree. The only thing my cats have ever done is drink the water in the tree stand. >_>

Now you know why we have a fake tree! When I had Misty & Tabby (my previous cats), we got a real tree. They knocked it down so many times that we finally had to anchor it to the wall!

Now there's an idea. I wasn't going to get a tree this year, but I might try that! Thanks :).

Awesome pics! Hehehe kitties are having a good ole time. :D

With 8 cats in the house I don't dare put up a tree, there would be nothing left of it in 5 mins. lol
