Good luck with that! I used to have an African Grey when I lived in Germany,
but I wouldn't say no to a Macaw :). But with the birdflu going around, I
don't even know if I want to rehab any birds these days or have one as a
pet....

Over the past 3 years we have taken in 9 birds, some were rescues and some were purchased. All of them are healthy.
The cockatiels sing 5 whistle songs and talk in words! The parrots sing but haven't learned any words although they do imitate me laughing. We play music for them.
The first birds we got were an older cockatiel breeder pair from the pet store that had stopped laying fertile eggs, they are 15 years old and are very sweet although not hand tamed. Between those two and the two new ones they sing and mock the birds they hear from outside in the yard! It's a joy to have them.
What's really funny is when I am talking on the phone, the birds think I'm talking to them and they start talking louder and louder and laughing! And when we play music, the birds dance to the songs they like!
