Thankfully it went so fast that he didn't suffer much. One hour he was fine,
next hour he was gone. He put quite a few smiles on my face and I want
to thank him for that.

what a sweet little skunk. i know he's out there somewhere. i didn't realize he was so small!
i bet you'll get your chance to raise another skunk in the future. sounds like this little guy prepared you for the job. :smt023

Hmm, you might have a point there!
When I started the rescue, I never got a single animal twice. The first year
I got a mockingbird...it died, but I learned and the next one survived.
Then a grackle came, and a sparrow. Once I figured these 3 birds out,
I got a bunch of them that year that I was able to release.
The following year it was hawks, owls and opossum time..no mockingbirds,
nor grackle or sparrows. I did get the occasional dove or robin in though.
The 3rd year it was squirrels and cottontails, hardly any birds..and the 4th
year, which is now I got them all from squirrels to bunnies to birds and now
a skunk. So the only animal I didn't get in yet is the racoon..watch that
coming next season :). Coons and skunks hehehe.
I think this year also taught me how to deal with death, lots of death,
to see if I can live up to what I believe, and I sure could :). Besides
my father and my husky passing away, about 30 wild animals didn't
make it. But I knew from the start that I won't be getting any healthy
happy animals in here and that this is a big part of rehabbing animals.
I started seeing a plan happening to me here, teaching me one animal
at a time...and since I don't believe in coincidences, I can see the miracle :). Very obvious too!

I love skunks and yes have even thought of them as one animal that would be a good pet. I've learned a great deal about them, and heard they don't jump up like on your lap or a bed, is that true?
Anyway, sorry for the loss

They are domesticated skunks bred especiall for pets. I would never keep
one like this. I don't think I will ever find out if they jump on beds or not,
cuz I can't take any wildlife out of the enclosure and let them run free in
the house.my dogs and cats would have a hayday lol.
Here's a cool site about domesticated skunks:

Yeah I learned a lot from the famous "Skunk Lady"
To tell you the truth I never minded their smell much, except when it was extremely strong (when you are nearby).
Checking out that link, thanks

Oooh, what a cute little skunk. It's always so sad when young things die. :( But I'm glad he was in a good, warm home when he did cross the bridge.
