On evening Sunday I saw a moma cat "abandon" one of her kittens. I am guessing that he is about 10 days to 2 weeks old...eyes open, ears up. I couldn't leave the poor little thing, so I am trying to take care of it. The first couple of days, we struggled with a bottle, but I was able to feed him with a dropper. We are now okay with the bottle. I am feeding him "Just Born" powdered milk replacement. I was able to get him to urinate, but not poop. He finally did poop on his own on Wednesday. It was greenish/yellow and very loose. Is that because he went from Mom's milk to the milk replacement? I am afraid he might be getting diarrhea. And he seems to be having a hard time going. Yesterday when I was stimulating him to urinate, he cried. I thought he might be sore from the washcloth, so I got some Prep H, but today he is REALLY crying and isn't urinating much at all. I'm worried. He keeps his tail tucked in under himself almost all the time...does that mean anything? He weighs about 5 oz and hasn't really gained any. He has been sleeping from about 10pm to around 7am...should I be waking him up during the night to eat? He is waking up about 3 times a day to eat. I have two females (one is 4 and the other is 9 months). The 4 year old is having no part of the baby, but the 9 month old seems curious...any chance one of them will help with the "mothering"? I appreciate any help and advice. Thanks!

Poor little kitty. I know I was able to find special milk that is made for kittens. Maybe one of the petshops in town might have some. The milk is found is sold in these small little cartons. Maybe that would help.

Hi Mascott2,

Thank you for watching out for this little one.

MissDolittle has a wonderful site about raising kittens.
http://www.kittenbaby.com/

The site contains some useful information regarding how to help a kitten go potty and what to look for when they do.
http://www.kittenbaby.com/bowel-movement.php

From the above page:
What does a loose and/or greenish color stool mean? This would be indicative that the food is moving too quickly through the kitten's system, and the bile is not being absorbed, and is probably attributed to moderate overfeeding. Cut the formula back with the Pedialyte or bottled water; in severe cases use 2 to 3 drops of Kaopectate every four hours until this problem clears up.

It would be a very good idea to get this little guy in to see a vet to find out if there are any hidden health problems.
