We are thinking of getting our son a begal puppy. I was woundering if anyone has had a begal and if so what was it like?

Beagles are great dogs for children, however, they do have breed specific needs too that need to be met in order for them to be this great.

For once they are high energy dogs and do need a daily walk in addition to plenty of playing and running. Stimulating his mind by hiding toys and treats and let him find it will fulfill the purpose in him that he was bred for, mainly for finding small prey for the human hunter. He's a seeker and sniffer.

And they get overweight easily too. I hope that helps.

One last word...please try to adopt one out of a shelter and don't buy one and support the breeding market.

i second the shelter....you can get a great dog, and feel good about it!!!
