Hi all, hope I am welcome here. As some of you might know I had "problems" with Squerly at his site.

Thankfully I saw your sig for this site, and this site seems pretty well done.

At any rate, please let me know if I'm okay to be here.

Of course you are welcome :).

I haven't read the board over there in a while, so I have no idea what went
wrong. But aren't bias, so sit down, relax and post :).

I am one who loves to post, I'm a forum crazy person. I posted alot of posts on animals and got carried away posting in the OFF TOPIC area. I became excited about Windows Vista going public and posted that and was banned.

Anyway I won't be advertising my site anymore lol and I won't post off topic now.

This place seems GREAT! Thanks for your welcome it feels good.

Edit: Quotes not working?

Quotes should work..lemme try!

Ya I just read the board and saw what went wrong. No problem to do that
here. I only ban spammers that just register to have their viagra url in
the signature lol.

AND now that you say it, I'll add a Off Topic forum too here in a sec.

Now that I previewed my post here, I see that the quotes do not work..
hmmmmmmmmmm. Gotta check out the config too.

I see nothing wrong and the quoting should work. I installed a mod that
would make it easier to insert an image etc..maybe that messed the
quoting up. I'll fix that soon, am kinda busy right now.

Hehe now it works..don't ask me why lol.

Well let's test it here.

Thanks for your support. I do think I went overboard by making the statement about guests registering at my site though.

however Squerly has no tact in dealing with people, that much I've learned. I try to be a good forum owner and try to deal with people properly.

Such seems to be the case for you.... thanks for that!

GREAT IT WORKED!

Hey if you ever get to the point of trusting me enough and have troubles, let me know I'll be more then happy to assist in your great site as an admin should the need arise.

I'm especially good with Invision board though, but I know phpbb quite well too. :dances:

I have to say that Squerly is a great guy but inexperienced when it comes
to running such a big forum and he doesn't make always the best choices.
But he is trying and learning. Aren't we all? lol

I think the quote thingie needs to be written in CAPITAL letters, then it works :).

Well I've run forums after forums with 20 to 5000 members at one point. The best experiences of my life. He has enough experience to know how to deal with people... one would think.

Anyway like I said you need/want any help I'm here. I love all your posts from his site.

Thanks, I'll let you know :).

It's easy to misjudge somebody when you feel stepped on your foot, believe
me. Squerly is a good guy and I seriously doubt he got up in the morning
thinking "I have to piss Michael off today" loool. But I also understand that
you aren't exactly happy about the ban.

Ya, I'm running forums since they exist basically and it's really hard to piss
me off. I haven't banned anybody in 8 years, except the spammers.

Do you know of a mod that's possible to block those bots that register
automatically? I get about 20 a day!

Are you sure you're not looking at the search engine bots which go through the motions of registering?

MissDolittle

Yep, I'm sure, cuz I search engine bots don't register and put urls in the
profile that leads to affiliate viagra urls and triple x sites lol.

I'd have to see, but often they use the same email for validation, I don't think I recall having to validate my email here?

If not you might want to make sure they validate on registration.

Edit: Quotes not working again :(

hey michael!

yeah, i gotta say, it was strange how you were banned. i was hoping to get to know you, ya know? i'm all about people. :D

i was banned from the squirrelboard once. twice actually; the first time was for three days, the second was a lifelong ban that was lifted after a couple of weeks. squerly didn't do the banning; he actually unbanned me. anyway, it's no fun, i can commiserate (sp?).

it's strange because i'm on three forums right now that are all kinda aware of each other and don't exactly get along, but they coexist. the squirrel board, this forum, and the All Squirrels Must Die forum. i could get into details about why i'm at the last one, but if you visit the forum you'll probably understand what i'm doing.

forum wars! AHH! this site is pretty peaceful though. :D

Hiya Thundersquirrel! Good to see you here. So are they very touchy for some reason there?

You realize it's too bad about that site because I did like how it was handled, especially with the debate about pets vs not pets. Ha ha forum wars.

I changed my forum once again (been at this for years, can never get it right lol)

MissDolittle
06-15-2006, 04:57 PM
Yep, that's one major thing I want to prevent, a forum war. We don't need
it. Everybody has the right to have a forum and I will not allow that the
squirrel board is going to be bashed here.

We can express how we feel about it, but no bashing..that hasn't helped
anybody so far and I doubt it ever will.

My motto is: Do what you want but hurt nobody. Easy huh? ;).

The squirrel board is about saving squirrels and I would do anything to
protect the animals, you know what I mean?

I never heard of the all squirrels must die forum. I put it into google but
there are more than one url. Which one is it?

Saviah Wildlife
06-15-2006, 04:58 PM
I wasn't bashing was I?

If so I apologize.

MissDolittle
06-15-2006, 05:29 PM
Nonono, you weren't bashing. What triggered me saying that was the word
forum war. :)

thundersquirrel
06-15-2006, 05:31 PM
yeah, me too, i was on the borderline of bashing. not cool.

the all squirrels must die forum was created by the "squirrel defamation league." here's the link:

http://thesdl.proboards66.com/index.cgi

i wouldn't attract any attention to yourselves, though, cause they might start coming here to bother us. :?

MissDolittle
06-15-2006, 05:47 PM
OMG, I only clicked on the General forum and on the first Thundersquirrel
thread... :smt119 .

That makes it almost hard not to bash lol.

But you know, I had a neighbor who is bragging all the time how he kills this
and shoots that and hunts the other thing. Their ego is so small that they
have to shoot innocent little animals to feel big...how pathetic is that?

He knows that I'm a rehabber and he is having a ball going into details of
cutting up a boar with a chain saw. I didn't do him the favor of going nuts
at him but asked for the pig ears for my dogs loool.

I mean I know that there is nothing I or we can do to stop this barbaric
sport, so I don't have much of a choice but accept that this is the way it is.

All I get to hear is "the population needs to be controlled"..ya right. That's
why the wolves population is shrinking to almost nothing.

But I try hard to avoid getting it rubbed into my face!

Saviah Wildlife
06-15-2006, 05:51 PM
Oh the population control thing is utter crap. Even if we "need" hunting to reduce populations it's due to the human's interference in the first place.

The deer? Why are they overpopulating? Let's see, oh yeah we "controlled" the wolves and cougars! Yep, cougars USED to span from East to West, North to South. Now you really only see them in the west and a few Florida Panthers.

Wolves? Not many either.

Oh, and then there's the "let's build more housing, hey how about a summer home up north!"

Michigan is doing OK with wild predators, even though they're not great. We have Isle Royale in the upper peninsula, which is basically one large nature study about the interactions between predator and prey (i.e. wolves and moose). We've even had sightings of some cougars in Michigan, and we think they're from Wisconsin, though some people say they were pets that were released. Either way, I'm glad they're back. People will have to be careful with them around, but maybe if we let them settle in they can take care of our deer population for us. The hunters complain that there are so many deer that there's not enough food for all of them, and they're all skinny and lean. Bring on the mountain lions. laughter

humans as a society are all about one thing; control. money, war, companies, politics, they're all about control. :?

Saviah Wildlife

Not only the predators but overpopulation is probably the reasoning for parasites such as ticks, with lyme disease.

I can see no other reasoning a tick would exist, they are "bad nature" as my daughter now says. We had to reason with her about this because for the longest time when we found a spider in the house and released it in the past she would ask. We would say "they are part of nature". So when it came time to killing ticks (yep I kill them!) she asked and we came up with "bad nature" lol

MissDolittle
06-16-2006, 06:36 PM
Hehehe, rather 'dangerous nature' lol. I have no idea of the purpose of the
tick either, but everything and everybody has a purpose somehwere on this
planet. If ya think logically, the tick is population control too..if you imagine
there are no humans on earth killing off animals..they'd keep it down.
