Animal lovers: We are cursed with emotion and sentiment and doomed to feel the pain everlasting of our lost animal friends.
This morning, I had to euthanize a beautiful female bear because she was habitualized by human ignorance; I hate having to do this. However along with this, I was approached by my fiancé Theresa with a sad look on her face when I arrived home. She told me my cat “Crawly” was dead and she tearfully showed me his body she had wrapped in a towel. He loved to hangout under the neighbor’s bushes and always stayed in my yard or theirs. They liked him and never had a problem. This morning they put a huge quantity of pesticide on their yard, I smelled it as I drove up. Crawly died from the poison and they felt horrible. They are in their 80s and I do not fault them, it was my fault for letting Crawly out. Although Crawly was an indoor/outdoor cat, he did not hunt. He never hunted but would watch all the little critters running around and it was entertaining for him. This is why I feel ok with him being out for awhile He had a neurological problem, which made him unique. His hind legs swayed when he walked and made him look as if he was sauntering like a cowboy. I rescued him as a kitten from being euthanized by animal control after they euthanized his mother and siblings. He was also the star of my books “The adventures of Crawly the jungle cat”, three of which are finished and almost ready for publishing. I buried him a short while ago, under a crape myrtle tree and hung his tags from it. I etched a head stone inscribed, Crawly the jungle cat, 2006 to 09-2009 on my way to a new adventure. I am heart broken ![]() ![]() Crawly(black) and his friend Lynx ![]() Last edited by Bear : 09-25-2009 at 02:38 PM. |

I'm soooo sorry! I'd wish there is something I could say that would make sense, but there isn't.
One thing I would not do, and that's looking for fault, because it has guilt as a result..and that's not helping anybody nor does it change a thing. So you might just as well remember him with the smile he put on your face when you needed it the most. Not your best day today, that's for sure!

I am so sorry for your sadness for your beloved baby. Just remember him always and he will forever be with you. As I believe our pets should be like our children and live long after us.
