Default Hello from NY

Hi all....very happy to have found this forum! I am a newly licensed Rehabber, got my license last year and have just started taking in some animals. Trying to take is slow. I have so much to learn and can't wait to start reading all your threads. I am mom to four human sons, and one fur child a Doberman Pinscher named Petey. I've been a Moderator on the largest Doberman Forum in the world for the last couple of years. My Petey has a fatal illness Dilated cardiomyopathy DCM. He is only 3 and the news has consumed me for the last 4 months, I am glad this place exists so I can stay away from the doberman forum and escape some of my sadness!!!

Carol

Welcome on board, Carol! Congrats on your permit! What kind of animals are you planning or permitted to accept? Any preference yet? My favorites are raccoons .

I'm sorry to hear about your dog's illness. That's a tough one. I have 2 Great Danes (one had heartworms when I got her and I expected DCM, but she appears to be ok with 8 years old), a Yellow Lab and a Chihuahua. I take the 8 year old Dane and the Chihuahua to nursing homes for pet therapy and presentations about wildlife.

I'm looking forward hearing more from you! And hopefully see some pictures too .

Besides being a licensed rehabber I'm also the vice president of our local human society/animal shelter, so I've seen a lot.
